That should be it...luckily I don't really need to call in work unless this carries over into the weekend. I'm actually not sure how this all goes, so I guess I get to learn up close and personal.

The meeting I mentioned I was going to? Every one of us used to be part of a group called Archangel. Back then we were trying to provide extra coverage and muscle on the streets, since crime was so high. I didn't get to see it through to its ending, but it ended real bad.
I guess some people were still burnt up about it...dozen or so thugs and a handful of metahumans rushed in and raised hell. Lots of fighting. They even set up external nullifiers around the building...none of my friends could use their powers.
Jacob almost died. I managed to kill the man before he could kill us. The rest began to break down when backup and police showed up. Maybe around 2am? It was late.
I've been in the station since then, getting processed and waiting.

that's a disaster for the ages. didn't realize you of all people could end up having a dark past, but i guess you weren't actually present for the dark part of it before. i hate to say this because i know you probably don't wanna hear it, but you did the right thing, sunset. you really didn't have any other options, either.

sit tight. when they let you have visitors i'm going over to be that obnoxiously cliche boyfriend telling you it's all gonna work out.

I don't regret what I did...only that it had to happen. I know I did right, even if I do have to carry this along with the others I've had to kill before. That's my responsibility, I'll accept that. And whatever I'm told to do to atone here. I just hope there'll still be a chance to keep training and studying...though I'm not sure how good it looks to put a badge on someone convicted of killing, imPort or not...
I guess I'll find out sooner or later here.

Maybe wait a little for things to cool down, just in case the thugs who also got arrested decide to be extra spiteful. I'd hate for them to take out their anger for what I did on you...
(And I know you're going to say that's no big deal, but that's probably because I'm more concerned about your safety than YOU are...)

manabu, one thing life taught me is that people either are perfectly fine with killing, or it's like Sisyphus getting an extra boulder to push. don't try to act like you're okay. i pretend to be okay often enough to spot when someone's not.

i don't know how the laws here work about police and imPorts. but self-defense is a very different thing legally than just shooting a guy for the fuck of it is. it'll have to go before a judge, still, but keep that in mind.

archie's got our place on lockdown ever since the thing with the rabbits. nobody's going to get to me with his pokemon roaming around, and i've been busy with school so i've kept a schedule that doesn't leave me open for too many attacks. between that and my entire upbringing involving watching out for muggers, i should be okay. this time i've got people looking out for me. I'm more concerned about you. jail isn't your scene.

No, I understand. There's nothing OK at the end of the day for killing someone. Still...it's not just me who would be dragged down if I decided to let that lay too heavy on me. I know that too. I promise that even though this is a mess, I'm going to deal with it and be OK when all's said and done.
And so are you it sounds like...I'm relieved.
Please be patient with me while this all goes on. I promise I'll try to keep you as informed as I can from this side.

you don't have to promise me to be okay. just promise me you'll talk to me when you feel shitty and i promise to be there for you when you need me, okay? i may not be the world's greatest boyfriend, but i can do that much for you.

i'm safe and sound. right now my only concern is you being alright and getting you good food when you get out, because prison food is slop. i bought a couple of japanese cookbooks. i can make you a decent meal now.

it's not you i'm impatient with, it's the system.

i'm trying to minimize your stress levels. you're always there for me when shit goes south, so if i can make this a little bit more bearable for you, then that's what i wanna do. you know i love you.

to be fair i AM taking college level english literature, so apparently i'm not as young as you'd think, at least on some intellectual level. if you have trouble sleeping when you get out i can read you the more boring stuff they're having us go over, that always sends you right to sleep.

hey, if you want to crash over at my place when this is over and just unwind for a couple of days, i'll stockpile food and high brow books in advance. i just wish i knew the system here well enough to find a way to get you through this faster.

It's OK. If anything I'll at least learn a lot from this side of the cell...
But I'll definitely take that offer. I'll keep looking forward to it.

at least they put you in a single cell. kara, the evil-ex of mine? got put in a four person one and two of the other girls were white supremacists. had to hide under the bed and scream for two hours before the guards got her out. which explains her attitude about the police, really.

i've set up the spare room to be a better guest room - more blankets, some stupidly cute plushies, spare clothes. you're always welcome to come over and crash whenever you need it. scout's happy here, archie likes you and i can't wait to introduce you to scarlet. she's shy, but i see why you couldn't resist getting a pet now. they bring a lot of light into life.

i recorded all the best scout-and-scarlet interactions on my phone so you can watch them when you get out. it's like having kids, we've gotta catalogue all these precious moments.

I'm definitely not going to have a time line that...the others arrested are separated so there's no opportunity for a fight.
But I'm glad those two are getting along. I'll look forward to seeing what they've been up to...

they are best friends. i don't get their friendship but then again i don't get how i ended up with you so i feel like our pets are a good representation of us. just fuzzier.

well, she DID lick his underbelly and that got him freaked out briefly. she's a baby, she'd still be nursing normally, so she's got some instincts she's working through. she and scout seem to have moved past the incident, though.

and give yourself some credit, you've gotten a lot better about dealing with my crudeness. and i've gotten better about not being crude. case in point, i have not made a single joke about prison sex in this entire conversation.
